Mutant Year Zero (session 1)

We rejoin the mutants on their expedition to the Science Place in sector F18 - after the spider fight; the fixer Enrique (a dandy fellow who wears a formal jacket over his hoodie) caught up with the group. 
Diego insisted on sleeping before moving on. Guillermo made a tent.  It started to get dark. 

Sector F19 sewage works, a high-Rot area - numerous Zone Ghouls lurking in the filtration plant, scampering up high, glimpsed through shattered windows and peering from the rooftop. Is the Rot lesser inside? The mutants moved on, not keen for a confrontation. 

But the Zone Ghouls came back at night, at an old petrol station.
The mutants had camped without the tent, saving it for harsher conditions.  The Zone Ghouls are small, scrawny specimens all wrapped up in cloths and plastic like they're warding off the light. They were scared off by Diego's animal roar and Enrique shouting "Run! the beast is unleashed!"
 
 
Daybreak, into sector F20 through dead woods.
A trash hawk nesting on dead trees, high above on a rocky ridge; the mutants spread out to make their numbers obvious, so it wouldn't fancy its chances at attacking one of them. 
Up ahead on the road: a car! Guillermo fixed it, got it into working order. 
(There was a rules questions about assistance: you get 1 bonus die per assistant to a maximum of 3 - but NOT if using your role's specialist skill. Those rolls are for you alone.)
 
F21: There was an unusual property to this sector, though the mutants didn't notice it. 
 
F22: an ancient battlefield. Craters, mud, scores of skeletal remains, drenched in sudden pouring rain. 
In the downpour, an angry razorback. Blocking the way ahead as the car picks its way past wrecked machinery of the bygone age. 
Diego got out to shoot at the beast. Guillermo tried to save the car till Enrique browbeat him into ramming the boar instead.
Diego shot the beast again and Ines's dog finished it off. They hacked it apart for meat (technically, I was way too generous with the rations from it -- and they should've had the Butcher talent to do it at all. Never mind) 
Here the car was left behind - no fuel. The razorback meat was locekd inside to collect on the way home. 
 
F23 Thick woods, gnarled branches under a blazing sun. 
 
F24 A ruined police station. Corroded iron bars guarding the entrance to cells whose walls have long since crumbled. 
Picked up some scrap: a desk fan, coat hangers bits and bobs. 
 
E25: The Science Place, an ancient observatory. The mutants took home part of the telescope assembly to the Dawn Vault. 
 
Back at the Ark, they worked on and completed the pigsty project. Teh Ark's food supply increased to the next threshold! The mutants are now only on the borderline of starvation, rather than actually slowly starving. 
 
To-do at the start of next session: roll for decontamination from the Rot.
