World of 1656: a PbtA miscellany

Some ideas for moves to use in an around the English Civil Wars, the Anglo-Spanish War of 1654–1660, and so forth.

When you fire a muzzle-loading firearm at an advancing enemy, roll +WIS. The result is your maximum Distance. You may Volley at the Distance of your choice at or below this, but you only deal your damage if your Volley roll meets or exceeds the Distance. At distance 0, combat is joined.

When you reload after this volley, roll +DEX. On a 10+ you reload and subtract 1d6 from the Distance at which you fired before. This is your new maximum Distance. On a 7-9, you successfully reload before the enemy closes -- you're now in combat and have a loaded gun.

When you advance against enemy fire, roll +CON. On a 10+ choose two. On a 7-9, choose one.
* +1 Armour during your advance
* Another +1 Armour during your advance
* Your enemy does not have time to reload before you engage at close quarters
